Declaration Project

Chicano, African American, or Native American Studies are a few historical programs that represent a stronger sense of history. Ethnic Studies has a more accurate and full perspective of history in of the United States of America. When the students in America learn about their roots, heritage, where they come from, then they will know where they are going. America has a very exceeding High School dropout rate, the academic system is not providing cultural competency and an equitable representation in staff. It is important that we learn about our roots celebrating our own cultures and also relating to different cultures around the world. It is time to celebrate diversity, intersectionality, and speaking different languages as a talent and necessity in the times that we are living in today. These programs should have been implemented since the beginning,  according to the www.Hufingtonpost.com many districts across the country are now adopting them as a way to boost student achievement in communities of color, where textbooks that emphasize the achievements and writings of colored representation. “Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed. You cannot uneducate the person who has learned to read. you cannot humiliate the person who feels pride. You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore.
